
Discover Rowing Day
Curious about rowing? Discover Rowing Day is a one-hour, hands-on introduction to the sport at Olentangy Rowing Club—no experience required. Held at our indoor erg (rowing machine) training facility, this session gives middle and high school students the chance to learn the basics of rowing technique, try it out on the ergs, and get a feel for what it’s like to be part of our team.
During the session, athletes will:

Learn what a typical ORC season looks like, including practices, regattas, and team culture

This event is designed to be welcoming, informative, and fun—whether you’re exploring rowing for the first time or considering joining a future season. Parents are welcome to attend and ask questions while learning more about the ORC program, commitment levels, and next steps.

No experience needed
If you are an incoming 8th-12th grader, then you can row. No prior rowing experience is needed. Most college rowers start rowing In high school.
